Poetry Project

My poetry project turned out to be a HUGE success. My children were able to complete some of the coolest I POEMS and even final documents turned out to be awesome.  I focused the topic on life cycles.  My children were given many the opportunity to pick the animal that they wanted. Originally, I had planned  on co-researching with a group of fourth graders but the teacher that I was working with wound up having emergency surgery, so I struck out on my own. 

I gathered the materials before hand and worked hard to create a scaffold book that could be used.  The students  were asked to use the books and magazines I had provided to complete thier research scaffolds.  Here are a few pictures on what they found…….

 

Final projects were composed with research pictures, and I Poem and Acrostic Poem.  The children were to use all the information that they had gathered to complete both of the poems.  The results are amazing!! Take a look……….
