Faith

Freely giving and receiving

Amazing love and amazing grace

Incredible release from heavy burdens

True love with out conditions

Hope for today and tomorrow :)

Love

Comes along at a chance

Twirls about in a careless dance

Fate, Chance, Circumstance

Plums and Old Men

Poetry is something that I find myself reluctant to cover in First Grade.  Why? I don’t know.  I have a hard time distinguishing what I should and should not use.  I want to include poetry more but I am not sure how.  I use Shel Silverstein and read his peoms as well as nursery rhymes but I don’t encourage students to use it. Reading this document helped me some. Especially the diagram in Figure 3.  It gives a step process that will help me to become more comfortable with using poetry more.  I wrote a lot of poetry during my teenage years used it as a avenue to express situations that I was facing.  I think maybe we all go through this phase? Who knows?  However, I was able to get one of my poems published into some random publishing company for young adults.  The sad thing is I couldn’t even tell you the name. It was something that my mom entered me in! Fun right?! Anyway, poetry has been an escape for me when dealing with things but they are usually very personal.  The point is, I need to use it more in my room and hope to find more that I can use in my room!

So Much Depends Upon

My soft cuddly pillow

lying on my bed

awaiting me each night

comforting me each morning

wrapping me in softness

giving my brain peace

swallowing my today

carrying me into tomorrow
